This is my first time posting, so hopefully I won't screw it up. Has anyone purchased or had any experiance with the new Springfield XD Sub Compact. Thinking about getting one for a new CCW Off-Duty carry. It looks good and a good name, but I want the down and dirty (ecspicialy any negatives) before I drop 500 on one. Any thoughts will be helpful. Thanks in advance...."Shoot Straight and Stab Up".

Hey Bryan,
Nicole at Triad has one. You need to go by there and ask to see hers. I think her's is a 9mm and she loves it. She was showing it to me when I was up there a while back. With the differnet backstraps, magazines and all the other stuff that COMES with it, it's a darn good gun. Haven't shot it yet but she's offered to let me shoot it. That was right before my back went out so I've not had the opportunity to get up there since. I think some of the others that work up there carry the XD as well but not sure which Caliber. I think Ben may have a 45.

Now that I think about it, Nicoles may not be sub-compact. Just next time you and pop are up there, tell her who you are and that I told you about her's and you would like to see it.
and while I'm wide awake, I'll try to find something on it and post here.

Thanks, I have seen the one up there....They have a .40 for about 529.00 or so. Gunbroker.com has some a little cheaper even after S & H. I think I'll go see them a see what they'll do for me.

I know it may be out of your way a little but give Bill Dudley a call at Gun Rack in K-Ville and tell him you work for...... and see what he'll do. I've always been pleased with his prices.
Also, just placed about a 8 min video on the VIDEO section of the forum. One thing I liked about it is you can tell when one is in the chamber. I know I always have one in there but......just saying.

Very good article....I think I have made my choice. Now it's just about getting the cash and finding the right price. Thanks for the input and research!

I ran into some SpecOps types this spring and the conversation quickly shifted to guns. They had a lot of time behind the XD and loved it. I also ran into a buddy that shoots competitions. He said that a lot of people are going to the XD over other traditional pistols. Apparently they are excellent weapons. Get the .45 if you're cayying it for defense. I shot a raccoon five times with my Glock 22 with Ranger ammo before it stopped walking and died. What would it do on a larger target? And the 9mm? Well, I guess if you squat to pee it would be alright.

I picked up my new black Springfield XD Sub-compact (.40) at the last gun show here in Winston. I paid $490.00 plus tax bexause I used a credit card at one of the gun store vendors. Very happy with it so far. I love the feel and compactness as it rides on my hip. I just happen to have a half-cut Fobus holster for my city gun and it fits XD's. The half cut is made for this type of weapon, fits perfect. I never liked it for my duty weapon anyways....I'll get another one or stick to leather.
I shot it in the backyard before I started carrying it.....I know it was factory tested, but something about carrying a weapon I haven't even shot yet just feels about as wrong as two boys ....... in a tent. All three shots were touching each other at 17 to 20 feet. Shot a little high, but that could be me anticipating a bit. I'm not used to sub-compacts.
The XD package does come with a holster and mag holder, however they suck. They are both regular belt loop style hard polymer and bounce around like crazy while walking.....not CCW class for sure. But hey at least they give you something. It also comes with two mags a 7 rounder and an extended 11 rounder. Now if I just get a good pair of night sights for it....I'm set. Thanks for the input Cox and for everyone else's commets.......Shoot straight and stab up!

Hey, Sorry I've not been on here in a while but I did talk to your dad on my first few days back and that was the first thing I asked him is if you got one. He told me about it. Glad you found something on the first try that you like. I read those articles frequently and they are usually pretty much on the up and up or I wouldn't have referred you to it. Glad it worked out.
I went to the Range the other week (Triad Gun Source) to sight in a new scope for my AR and was talking to Ben and Nicole about the XD's. At the time, they couldn't get any in and were back ordered. My brother in-law owns a Gun Shop in South Carolina and we went down there the weekend before I went back to work and he had 4 or 5 on the wall but had sold about 4 or 5 just that week. I think when I get another one it will be XD.
I do believe I will do a news letter on this gun and if you don't mind Mongo, I will use your input on the accessories.
Berzerker, shooting a raccoon 5 times??? Geesh. I believe I would have thrown the gun at him and said here, YOU can have it.
